After not an entirely romantic first encounter, across a busy bar in the centre of town, my now husband has proven to be quite the old romantic at heart. With a more than thoughtful proposal after 3 years of meeting, the handmade oak frame which surrounded the carefully selected printing press letters, reading ‘Will you marry me?’ looking back, is now the starting point to our new venture into the world of weddings.
We are Mr & Mrs Ford. Richard and Jennifer, along with our 2 years old daughter Ava-Grace, the family behind ‘The Wedding Tree Company’. It was our own wedding in August 2012 that is the inspiration behind our new company. With the date set I had a whole year and a half to add to Richard’s already heavy work load with prop ideas and wooden creations that would give our wedding that unique and personal touch we both envisaged.

As a bride-to-be, I threw myself into list making and wedding blogs, I quickly realised where the opening in the market stood. Wooden sign posts and quirky presentation boards that complemented our rustic wedding were difficult to come across without shipping them from across the pond. This is where Richard’s skills came into there own.
With over 13 years joinery experience and a love of all things wooden, Richard has built up an established and successful furniture business, making bespoke commissions, from, reclaimed oak mirror frames to dining tables and outdoor focus pieces. So with this experience now combined with my BA honours in art, we are branching out with a new focus.
The Wedding Tree Company aims to provide couples with one off, bespoke and totally personalised wooden wedding props, venue accessories and keep sakes. As our own wedding day rapidly approached we realised just how endless the possibilities were. Menu boards and wedding signs posts, wedding wishing wells and uniquely crafted wedding favours to name but a few. Our personal favourite though, is the oak wedding guest book plank (see photo selection shown). After trawling the internet for hours, a paper guest book just wasn’t going to cut it. We wanted something unique and eye catching that could be used as artwork in our home, giving us a quirky memento from our day. Your guests can write their personal message to you on your wedding day, and The Wedding Tree Company will protect and finish the plank for you to keep forever, the sentiments you share between you and those of your family and friends.
