For 250 years Gretna Green has been associated with clandestine marriages, and is now one of the world’s most popular wedding locations. From 1792 Gretna Hall was a coaching inn and was the first stop coaches made as they crossed the border.
Our hotel is perhaps best known for its association with the “Blacksmiths Shop”. Based on site, it offers guests and non residents a chance to experience and learn the history behind this 300 year old establishment.
Much grander than the local ale houses of the time, Gretna Hall attracted a higher class of wedding clients, so many noblemen and aristocrats were married here.
