I have always had a passion for baking having helped my mother decorate our family Christmas cake every year, which spurred me on to bigger things. I found my love for sugar flowers captured me and in later years realized, it’s never left me.
I am trained and have spent four years at college gaining an introductory certificate to the craft with distinction. City and Guilds qualification, and a Centra Advanced with a Pass grade followed and winning a number of awards. I later gained a position at Squires Kitchen in 2001, where I continue to write articles for them on a regular basis. This really gave me the confidence to experiment with sugar craft tools, and to see what I could really create. It was mind blowing. I’ve never really looked back. I have also gained a back catalogue of knowledge where plants are concerned. Knowing when the plant grows, what colours they form in and so on. I am a person who likes to create something very different and new. I need a challenge and creating new flowers offers it to me, in abundance!!
This year saw me take on another challenge, where I teach the craft to adults with Learning Disabilities through the YMCA…
