Since pagan times, the image of fire and the hearth will always be associated with luck. It is said that when the newly wedded bride inherited her fire irons she symbolically inherited her home and family. The blackened face of a TRUE chimney sweep and his relationship with the fires and hearths is the reason why he carries luck with him where ever he may go. If you come into contact with him the luck is said to rub off onto you! A piece of coal is also a lucky omen, especially when given to you by a chimney sweep. This is again in connection with the fire and hearth. Soldiers and sailors were known to kept a piece of coal tucked in their pockets to ensure their survival when in battle. On your wedding day we aim to keep this tradition alive!.... Your lucky chimney sweep will:
- Greet the newly wedded couple after the ceremony.
- Recite a personalized poem/message of good luck.
- Shake the grooms hand and kiss the bride on the cheek!
- A personalized scroll and lucky keepsake is then presented to the newly wedded couple.
- I will meet & greet your guests afterwards, so please feel free to take plenty of photographs!
