Well 15 September 2012 was a day I thought would never come. One of my daughters (Kelly) finally got engaged to her long suffering partner Ashley. They had been an item for about 6 years. Although it was clear for all to see they loved and idolised each other, they were happy living in our old family home, which they had bought off us some three years previous.
They had laughed and joked about getting engaged and married, but neither one would take the first step. Then out of the blue on 15th September, Kelly called whilst on a night out with Ashley celebrating the end of the cricket season, to tell me she thought she was engaged.
News quickly spread and many friends congratulated the very happy couple via Facebook over the next few days.
Very quickly an engagement ring was bought from the Jewellery Quarter, Birmingham. The mothers of the bride and groom to be quickly got together with the happy couple to plan and arrange the engagement party.
And so the fun and planning began.
