After lots of requests from brides about our next SALE DAY, we are having a SAMPLE SUNDAY on 8th June.
The boutique will be open from from 9am till 3pm.
Our ONE DAY SALE is packed with amazing sample dresses from our stunning bridal designers with a sample price tag that will make you smile like a Cheshire cat.
Designer bridal gowns will be from £75 to £700 (at least 40% OFF if not lots lots more) and bridesmaids gowns/ prom/ occasional wear will be from £60.
Our gowns range in sizes for 12 to 18 and most gowns in the sale are current styles that we sadly have to sell on to make way for our new collections.
All dresses are ready to be taken away on the day so make sure you come with mum or your best friend for when you find THE ONE!
No appointment is necessary on sale days but that does mean we get VERY busy, so our normal one to one styling appointments are not available.
It’s also a good idea to only come along if you know what you are looking for as we don’t have the time to try on lots of styles.

What is a sample gown?
Bridal sample gowns are gowns that we buy for our boutique for brides to try on. They have never been worn for a wedding! Bridal boutiques work differently to many other clothes shops, we normally order new gowns for our brides so unlike stores like Next etc... If you buy a gown ‘off the peg’ or ‘sample’ you often get a great discount from a bridal store.
What about the condition of the gowns?
Many of the gowns are in good condition however we always take the condition into account when setting the sale price. You need to inspect the gown before you agree to buy your dress.
Do I need to bring anything with me?
Yes and No! It’s always good to bring someone who you trust who will give you their opinion on the dress (we suggest NOT to bring lots of people with you as it can get very crowded and too many opinions can confuse you). We always give very honest advice even if that means we don’t sell you a dress.
And maybe bring a pair of shoes the same heel height you will be wearing on your big day. We have shoes for you to wear while you are trying but they are only 2½inch heel. Some gowns do have lace edging on the bottom so it’s important that we see if it can be altered to your height once your shoes are on.
What about alterations, I might find one I love but it’s a bit big?
Don’t worry! On the sale day we will have Pat with us who is a bridal seamstress. She can advise you if a gown can be altered and the rough cost. If you do buy a gown from us, although we recommend two bridal seamstresses (Pat and Rita), you are under no obligation to use them as they are independent businesses and nothing to do with the running of Formal Elegance Bridal Boutique.
I have found ‘the one’ how can I pay?
We accept either cash or card. We don’t add a charge for paying via card be that debt or credit, like any other retailers do. The rule on sample sale gowns is that gowns must be paid for in full and taken away that day. We are sorry we have to do this but our good nature has been abused on previous sale days by brides putting a small deposit down for the gown to be taken off the rail and then not returning to collect her dress.

Although we are promoting our sale day, we do a sale rail all year around. So if there is a dress that you think is ‘the one’ and would be gutted if it was sold, then don’t wait! It’s always the case that we sell quite a few sale gowns the week before the Sunday as some people can’t get in on that day or they are too much in love to leave it to chance.
