The Belfry Moth Ball raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support

Just married Vicky West has the perfect excuse to step back into her wedding dress at The Belfry.

Vicky, who lives in Cannock, only got married at the resort on July 1 and now has the chance to join other brides in dusting off their wedding dresses to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Brides, along with bridesmaids, mothers-of-the bride, mothers-of-the-groom, hens and friends, will get the chance to celebrate once more in their wedding attire at The Belfry’s Moth Ball on Saturday, October 29.

Hosted by BRMB radio presenters Foxy & Giuliano, the ladies-only evening will feature entertainment from Take That tribute band Beautiful Circus and mind-blowing magic from Ben Hanlin.

The Belfry is celebrating its own golden wedding anniversary this year with it being 50 years since the first wedding reception took place at the venue in Wishaw, Sutton Coldfield.

Samantha Baker, who is helping to stage the fund-raiser at The Belfry, said: “Our first wedding reception took place in 1961 and our first civil wedding ceremony was held here in 1995.

“There have been lots of ceremonies and receptions held at The Belfry over the years and it would be great to welcome back brides, bridesmaids and other ladies who have celebrated marriages here in their wedding attire.

“It promises to be a fun night for any ladies who want the chance to dress up in a wedding outfit they have worn either as a bride, as part of a wedding party or as a guest, and let their hair down with the girls.”

Tickets, which include a gourmet three-course dinner along with a raffle and charity auction, are available at £39 each, with £5 going to Macmillan Cancer Support.

Party-goers can also make a weekend of it with tickets also available with an overnight stay for just £79 per person, with £10 going to Macmillan Cancer Support.

Cat Yates, fundraising manager for Birmingham South and Solihull for Macmillan Cancer Support, said: “We are delighted that The Belfry has decided to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support with The Moth Ball.

“One in three of us will unfortunately receive a cancer diagnosis at some point in our life time and, with two million people currently living with cancer in the UK, cancer affects us all.

“Without events such as this, Macmillan would not be able to provide the practical, medical, emotional and financial support for people affected by cancer.”
